Day 44, A Kings Ransom for Some Sleep

I would give a kings ransom (whatever the hell that means) for some honest sleep. Note the time this post hits. Before 2 AM if I type fast enough. I normally go to bed between nine and ten at night and wake between five and six in the morning. Not because I like it that way, I am nocturnal by nature. My job requires it. Now, I have ways of forcing sleep through self medication of alcohol and lately Benadryl but the effect the next day is awful. So last night I tried it more or less au natural. I am beginning to hate Chantix. No, I don't want to go back to smoking. That really has not been a problem since my quit date. But damn!

Eek, Chris. I'm awake, too, but mine's my own fault for insisting on the latte. I do hope that you will be sleeping better soon. Have you checked with your doctor about something temporary and non-addicting that might help? Hang in there!

No, I take more prescriptions than I care to already. I finally popped a Benadryl and got a few hours in before the dreaded alarm squawked at me.

I definitely understand not wanting to take any more pills than necessary, and I do hope sleep comes your way tonight.

Hey Chris, sorry to hear about your sleeping problem - that sucks! I love sleeping and the Chantix has changed my sleep but I am not tossing and turning all night.
Of course I take Tylenol PM (generic kind from Walgreens - works better than name brand stuff) and it takes about 2 hours before it hits but then I find I have to get into bed.
I wish you a good nights sleep friend.

And so it goes... said...

Good luck sleeping tonight! I've enjoyed reading your blog. I was hesitant about Chantix because it is relatively new and it's very interesting to hear how it works from an individual point of view as opposed to a promotional entity...

I was on Chantix too but stopped taking it because I noticed the I couldn't sleep. I had a lot of dreams which was OK, but not being able to sleep sucks!
I tried Tylenol PM but they didn't really work for me plus they are dangerous to your liver so I didn't want to take them anymore. Will try Benadryl to see if that'll help. I have been off Chantix for almost 2 weeks now and I am hoping that it'll get better. For you who think you need to take the full 3-4 weeks of Chantix, let me just say, that you do NOT need to do that. After your last cigarette YOU ARE A NON SMOKER and there is no need for any Chantix anymore.

how do you get to sleep, this is my 3rd day. my eyes are burning, and I have to work another 10 hours 3 hours from now. I tried over the counter pills but I am still awake I setup all I want to do is go lay down I lay down I feel like I am drowning and need to setup. I will not be taking this pill at night tommorrow. I am 15 days in not smoked. but I got to sleep I will take the morning one, and see if skipping it at night helps. Monday I can talk to my doctor. but three days like this hurts, cant sleep gas and heartburn since monday.

Skipping the evening pill should help. And it will get better over time. Hang in there!

Best,

Chris
